Does Kate Marshall Support Raising Debt Limit with Zero Budget Cuts?

May 31, 2011

Tonight, 97 House Democrats voted for a ‘clean’ debt ceiling bill to raise America’s debt limit by a whopping $2.4 trillion without ANY spending reductions alongside it. Kate Marshall (D-NV) has been ambiguous on her plans for the debt limit and Washington’s out-of-control spending.

On a recent Nevada Public Radio interview, Marshall said, “At this point I’m gonna have to raise that debt ceiling,” without giving specifics on a budget plan.

Kate Marshall clearly supports raising the debt limit, but she hasn’t said on what conditions.

Please consider the following quote from the NRCC as you cover Kate Marshall’s vague position on the debt limit.

“Despite overwhelming support to cut up America’s credit cards, Kate Marshall hasn’t committed to any meaningful budget cuts alongside a vote to raise the debt ceiling. Does Marshall support her fellow Democrats in voting for a $2.4 trillion increase on the debt limit with no commitment to forcing government to live within its means?” – Tyler Q.
