Will Chandler Turn to Even More Failed Stimulus Spending?
Kentucky Democrat’s Leaders Considering More Spending as Approval of These Policies Hits Record Lows

Washington — As deeply troubling jobs numbers continue to generate more economic uncertainty, many of Ben Chandler’s Democrat leaders are already calling for even more of their failed stimulus spending programs in order to “fix” the economic problems that have flourished under these very same policies. Will Ben Chandler join his fellow Democrats in calling for even more job-destroying spending that further indebts Kentucky families to foreign countries like China?

“Even though the Democrats’ spending and borrowing spree is more unpopular than ever with middle-class families facing an increasingly difficult economy, Ben Chandler’s Democrat colleagues are racing to double down on these disastrous policies,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Will Chandler join his fellow Democrats in pushing even more of the failed spending policies that continue to destroy jobs and further indebt Kentucky families to foreign countries like China?”

House Democrats are doubling down on new plans for even more spending despite the obvious failure of these policies:

“House Democrats this week have amplified their calls for new spending on infrastructure and other federal projects in the face of May’s discouraging job-creation figures. Even as Republicans are insisting on “trillions” of dollars in spending cuts, Democrats maintain that a targeted injection of additional federal dollars in the near-term would go a long way toward reversing the hiring slump. Friday’s disappointing job report, they say, only bolsters their case.” (Mike Lillis, “Dems double down on new spending after discouraging jobs report,” The Hill, 6/4/11)

This is despite the fact that voters disapprove of the Democrats’ excess spending more than ever:

“Americans’ disapproval of how President Barack Obama is handling the economy and its growing budget deficit has reached new highs amid broad frustration over the slow pace of economic recovery, according to a Washington Post-ABC New poll released on Tuesday.”

“Fifty-nine percent, a new high, gave Obama negative marks for his handling of the economy, up from 55 percent a month earlier. Obama’s approval rating on the deficit issue hit a new low of 33 percent, down 6 points since April.” (JoAnne Allen, “Obama’s rating on economy hits new low: poll,” Reuters, 6/7/11)

Voters disapprove of the Democrats’ free spending and borrowing ways more than ever before, but Ben Chandler’s Democrat colleagues hardly seem to notice. As Kentucky families see the devastating economic results of their failed spending spree every day, will Chandler double down on even more spending and borrowing from foreign countries like China to fuel their spending addiction?
