Reno Unemployment Rate Rises As Kate Marshall Supports Anti-Job Agenda
The unemployment rate rose in Reno as Nevada continues to face the worst unemployment rate in the nation.
“In the Reno and Sparks area, unemployment ticked up from 11.7 percent to 11.8 percent.” (“Nevada jobless rate decreases statewide for 5th month to 12.1 percent; Vegas, Reno rates rise,” Associated Press, 6/17/2011)
Nevada’s unemployment rate remains at a staggeringly high 12.1%.
“Nationally, unemployment was 9.1 percent in May. Nevada has led the nation in joblessness since May 2010.”(Jennifer Robison, “Unemployment rate drops in Nevada, but rises in Las Vegas Valley,” Las Vegas Review-Journal, 6/17/2011)
Treasurer Kate Marshall, candidate for Congress, supports the Democrat Party’s policies that have drastically increased spending, raised taxes, and put burdensome regulations on job creators. As treasurer, Marshall lost $50 million in taxpayer cash on a big gamble on Wall Street. She has also advocated for a tax increase despite opposition from small business owners for its negative effect on job creation.
NRCC Comment:
“In a state with the nation’s highest unemployment rate, Kate Marshall went against small businesses in advocating for a drastic tax increase. Kate Marshall’s record of fiscal recklessness will further hurt Nevada working families if she’s elected to Congress.” – Tyler Q. Houlton
