Democrats Promote Energy Jobs in Brazil, Walz Opposes Them Here
Obama Administration Promotes Energy Jobs for Brazil This Week After Minnesota Democrat Opposes Them in America

Washington — The Obama Administration is busy this week promoting growth and job creation in Brazil’s energy sector, and this is just weeks after Tim Walz and his fellow House Democrats opposed the creation of up to 100,000 jobs in the American energy sector (Roll Call #650, 7/26/11). It seems that Walz and his fellow Democrats are more than willing to fly envoys to Brazil in order to create energy sector jobs there, but American workers will continue to be stifled by red tape from Washington.

“Tim Walz and his fellow Washington Democrats clearly have their priorities wrong when they spend their time creating energy jobs in Brazil after destroying them here in America,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “The Obama Administration’s trip this week further emphasizes just how out of touch Walz and his Democrat leaders are with the needs of middle-class families in Minnesota struggling with a bad economy.”

Tim Walz recently opposed efforts to create quality energy jobs in America currently being blocked by red tape from the Obama Administration:

“With 9.1% unemployment and gasoline prices in the stratosphere, President Obama must sometimes wish that some big corporation would suddenly show up and offer a shovel-ready, multibillion-dollar project to create 100,000 jobs and reduce U.S. reliance on oil from dictatorships.

“Oh, wait. His Secretary of State has had that offer sitting on her desk since she was sworn in. The trouble is that the Administration can’t approve it without upsetting its anti-fossil fuel constituency. And so the proposal sits.” (Editorial, “Jobs in the Pipeline,” The Wall Street Journal, 7/7/11)

But the Democrats are busy pushing for energy jobs this week in Brazil of all places:

“A top Energy Department official will travel to Brazil next week to launch a high-level partnership aimed at developing the South American country’s oil-and-gas resources.” (Andrew Restuccia, “Obama administration to launch Brazil energy partnership next week,” The Hill‘s E2 Wire Blog, 8/12/11)

Tim Walz and his fellow Washington Democrats continue to demonstrate how out of touch they are when they jet off to create jobs in Brazil as middle-class families in America intensify their calls for job creation here.
