Oregon Democrat’s Economic Policies Resulted in Zero Net Jobs Created in August, Not Seen Since 1945
Washington — As Kurt Schrader and his fellow Democrats prepare to go all-in on their failed policies this week, they will have to explain how this latest rollout won’t simply be another futile attempt that will continue to make a bad economy even worse.
President Obama wasn’t even willing to offer any more excuses on Friday when it was revealed that no net jobs were added in August, a phenomenon not seen in this country since 1945. Since his Democrat leaders are either out of excuses or unwilling to give them, how can Schrader justify even more of his failed economic policies to middle-class families in Oregon?
“Kurt Schrader will need to offer some excuse or explanation for why even more of his failed big-government policies are going to somehow create jobs, especially since they have so far made a bad economy worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “His Democrat leaders like President Obama have little to say, so it’s up to Schrader to sell his failed, unpopular policies to Oregon’s middle-class families looking for pro-growth reform instead of more of the same.”
On Friday, President Obama conspicuously opted to remain silent on the alarming unemployment report before leaving for Camp David:
“But not helping the optics is Obama’s decision to leave for the weekend for Camp David. He was scheduled to leave at 10 a.m. and rescheduled for 12:30 p.m. after the report was released, giving a big enough window to prepare a statement if he wanted to make one.”
(Matt Negrin, “This time, Obama skips a statement,” Politico‘s 44 Blog, 9/2/11)As their economic policies continue to make a bad economy even worse, Kurt Schrader and his fellow Democrats will have to try harder to explain why doubling down on them is a good idea. President Obama’s silence on Friday is a sign that this will be increasingly difficult for Schrader and his Washington Democrat colleagues if they continue to ignore the fact that their job-crushing policies haven’t worked.
