Miller Favors Obama’s Job-Destroying Policies Instead of Job Creation for Middle Class
North Carolina Democrat Opposes Efforts to Ensure Regulations Will Not Hinder Job Creation and Make a Bad Economy Worse Washington — Brad Miller today opposed common-sense efforts to ensure that the impact of certain regulations on job creation and economic growth are studied before they take effect. Miller demonstrates how out of touch he is when he defends the Obama Administration’s constant stream of red tape coming from Washington at the cost of jobs and the economy. “Brad Miller has exactly the wrong priorities when he votes to defend President Obama’s regulatory spree that continues to destroy jobs and make a bad economy even worse for middle-class families in North Carolina,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “If Miller can’t even support reasonable steps to study whether regulations will have burdensome effects on the fragile economy, he is clearly out of step with what his constituents in North Carolina want.” The TRAIN Act would ensure that the economic impact of new regulations would be thoroughly studied before they are implemented:
“The bill would create a new Commerce Department-led interagency panel called the Committee for the Cumulative Analysis of Regulations that Impact Energy and Manufacturing in the United States.
“It would review various EPA rules to gauge their effect on U.S. economic competitiveness, energy prices, employment and other areas. “The measure delays a recently finalized rule to cut interstate power plant emissions that worsen ozone and particulate pollution, and an upcoming rule to cut mercury and other air toxics from power plants.” (Andrew Restuccia and Ben Geman, “OVERNIGHT ENERGY: House lawmakers prepare for silent Solyndra hearing,” The Hill‘s E2 Wire Blog, 9/22/11)Brad Miller voted against the Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation (TRAIN) Act of 2011. (H.R. 2401, Roll Call #741, Passed 249-169: R 230-4; D 19-165, 9/23/11) Brad Miller today demonstrated that he is unwilling to take reasonable steps to ensure that government regulations are not negatively impacting the economy and job creation. Once again, Miller put the Obama Administration’s job-destroying policies ahead of getting middle-class families in North Carolina back to work.
