New NRCC Targeted Calls: Loebsack “Walked Away” From Rebuilding Disaster-Torn Communities

Iowa Democrat Protects Money that Funded Solar Company Now Under Investigation, Not Flood Victims
Washington —The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today a series of targeted calls to constituents that expose Dave Loebsack’s choice to defend wasting Americans’ tax dollars on programs that loan money to companies like Solyndra, instead of giving aid to disaster-affected communities in peril.
“It’s bad enough that Dave Loebsack is holding hostage much-needed disaster relief following Iowa’s devastating flood, but it adds insult to injury when his excuse is to protect funding for programs that loan money to failed companies like Solyndra,” said the NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Now, not only does Loebsack champion programs that waste money that the government does not have, he refuses to put the well-being of Iowa families and farmers as his top priority.”
The script is as follows:
“Hello, I’m calling from the National Republican Congressional Committee with an important voter alert about your Congressman, Dave Loebsack. Dave Loebsack chose to put Washington politics ahead of Iowa flood victims. Instead of providing necessary support for Iowans still recovering from the devastating flooding, Loebsack recently voted to protect a fund that sent taxpayer dollars to a solar company that is now being investigated by the FBI. Iowa farmers and families are counting on this critical disaster relief to rebuild our communities. When Iowans needed help – Dave Loebsack walked away. If you feel strongly about this issue we can connect you with Loebsack’s office right now at no cost to you. You can tell his staff that you do not support their decision. Do you have another moment so we can put you through to Loebsack’s office? Paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee. 202-479-7000.”
