Will Connolly Take More From Virginia Families to Pay for Years of Wasteful Democrat Stimulus Spending?
Spending Hits New Record While Obama Tries to Sell Even More Failed Stimulus Spending and Job-Killing Taxes

Washington — As President Obama tours the country campaigning for even more failed stimulus, figures show that Washington Democrats like Gerry Connolly reached record levels of government spending last fiscal year. However, Connolly’s unprecedented spending binge has yielded little in the way of results, since the economy continues to flounder under the weight of record levels of debt placed on future generations by Washington. But since the Democrat solution seems to be another round of stimulus fueled by job-killing taxes on Virginia families and small businesses, will Connolly continue to double down on these same failed policies, as well?

“Apparently, record levels of spending aren’t enough to deter Gerry Connolly’s Democrat leaders from campaigning on an additional stimulus package in the wake of their first plan’s utter failure,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Does this mean Connolly will join President Obama in calling for more job-killing taxes on Virginia families and small businesses when they can afford it least to pay for even more wasteful government spending?”

The Congressional Budget Office numbers show Washington hit a new spending record in FY2011, reaching $3.6 trillion despite the persisting bad economy:

“Maybe it’s a sign of the tumultuous times, but the federal government recently wrapped up its biggest spending year, and its second biggest annual budget deficit, and almost nobody noticed. Is it rude to mention this?

“The Congressional Budget Office recently finished tallying the revenue and spending figures for fiscal 2011, which ended September 30, and no wonder no one in Washington is crowing. The political class might have its political pretense blown. This is said to be a new age of fiscal austerity, yet the government had its best year ever, spending a cool $3.6 trillion. That beat the $3.52 trillion posted in 2009, when the feds famously began their attempt to spend America back to prosperity.” (Editorial, “A New Spending Record,” The Wall Street Journal, 10/18/11)

And voters have lower expectations than ever before of the second stimulus plan, which Democrats intend to pay for with more job-killing taxes:

“President Barack Obama’s job approval rating is holding steady, but a record high six out of ten Americans think his policies will fail, according to a new national survey…

“According to the survey, 36% say they think the president’s policies will succeed, with 59% saying Obama’s policies will fail, up 12 points from last year and nearly double the 32% who said in 2009 that the president’s policies will fail.” (Paul Steinhauser, “CNN Poll: Record high say Obama’s policies will fail,” CNN’s Political Ticker Blog, 10/17/11)

Gerry Connolly’s Democrat leaders don’t seem particularly concerned about the record levels of spending they have achieved since they’re currently touring the country promoting yet another stimulus package. Does that mean Connolly shares their priorities and wants to raise job-destroying taxes on Virginia families and small businesses in order to fuel even more failed stimulus spending?
