Democrats Think Their Economic Failure is a Joke

November 10, 2011

 No One is Laughing

  • Newly released e-mails related to the Obama-appointed National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) job-destroying lawsuit against Boeing show NLRB staff mocking the outraged reaction to the board’s decision to destroy hundreds of jobs by shutting down a non-union plant.
  • It’s not the first time Democrats have mocked the failure of their own economic policies. Referring to the stimulus, President Obama earlier this year joked that “shovel ready was not as … uh … shovel ready as we expected.”
  • Democrats continue pushing for more of the same failed stimulus spending and more job-destroying policies while they dish out these bad jokes. It’s no wonder their audience, the American people, disapproves of their handling of the economy.

BACKGROUND

Newly released e-mails related to the Obama-appointed National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) job-destroying lawsuit against Boeing show NLRB staff mocking the outraged reaction to the board’s decision to destroy hundreds of jobs by shutting down a non-union plant:

“NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD CAUGHT MOCKING” DESTRUCTION OF 500 JOBS AFTER NLRB RULING: “On April 22, 2011, Acting NLRB General Counsel Lafe Solomon sent an email to Wilma Liebman, outgoing Chairwoman of the NLRB, “The article gave me a new idea. You go to geneva [Switzerland] and I get a job with airbus [French company]. We screwed up the us economy and now we can tackle europe.” Solomon’s comment was in response to an article published in French on the European Planet Labor website noting the devastating potential economic impact on South Carolina if the plant were to be scuttled: ‘Two billion dollars were invested in Charleston, 1,000 employees were recruited, and the site was supposed to open in July… until the NLRB meddled in.'” (“WATCHDOG: National Labor Relations Board Caught Mocking Boeing, Demint,” Fox Nation, 11/9/2011)

It’s not the first time Democrats have mocked the failure of their own economic policies. Referring to the stimulus, President Obama earlier this year joked that “shovel ready was not as … uh … shovel ready as we expected”:

OBAMA JOKES ABOUT HIS FAILED STIMULUS … HA HA?: “Obama smiled and interjected, ‘Shovel-ready was not as … uh .. shovel-ready as we expected.’ The Council, led by GE’s Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.” (“Obama Jokes at Jobs Council: “Shovel-Ready Was Not as Shovel-Ready as We Expected,” Fox News, 6/13/2011)

Democrats continue pushing for more of the same failed stimulus spending and more job-destroying policies while they dish out these bad jokes. It’s no wonder their audience, the American people, disapproves of their handling of the economy:

PELOSI RECENTLY DOUBLED DOWN ON JOB-DESTROYING NLRB ACTIONS: CNBC’S MARIA BARTIROMO: “Do you think it’s right that Boeing has to close down that plant in South Carolina because it’s nonunion?”

REP. PELOSI:  “Yes. I don’t think they should close it down. I would hope they would make it union.” (“Pelosi: ‘Yes’ The Obama NLRB Should Shut Down Boeing’s Plant in SC,” Real Clear Politics, 10/29/2011)

98 DEMOCRATS RALLY AROUND OBAMA’S CALLS FOR MORE STIMULUS:(Thomas.gov, Accessed 11/10/2011)

WHITE HOUSE SAYS “WE CAN’T WAIT” FOR MORE STIMULUS, EVEN THOUGH THE FIRST ONE FAILED: “President Obama’s growing impatience with Congress’ refusal to ‘pass this bill now’ has launched a new approach — bypassing Congress by taking actions that don’t require congressional support and insisting that ‘We Can’t Wait’ for any more delays on Capitol Hill.” (“President Begins ‘We Can’t Wait’ Economic Push,” Fox News, 10/24/2011)

DEMS CALL FOR $1.5 TRILLION IN JOB-DESTROYING TAX HIKES”:  (Helene Cooper, “Obama Vows Veto if Deficit Plan Has No Tax Increases,” The New York Times, 9/19/2011)

AND ANOTHER $467 BILLION IN TAX INCREASES TO PAY FOR STIMULUS 2.0: “The Obama administration is asking Congress to raise taxes by $467 billion over 10 years to pay for the President’s one-year $447 billion stimulus, which he announced during a speech Thursday before a joint session of Congress.” (Neil Munro, “Obama Asks Congress for $467-Billion Tax Increase to Fund Jobs Plan,” The Daily Caller, 9/12/2011)
