Does the Blue Dog Bark Match Their Bite? Michaud’s ‘No’ Vote Throws Group’s Support in Question
Blue Dog Coalition Already Officially Pledged Support for BBA, but Michaud Still Lap Dog for Dem Leadership

Blue Dog Leader Jim Matheson warned fellow Blue Dogs to vote for the BBA and warned that a ‘NO’ vote would reveal they’re nothing more than lap dogs to Democrat leaders:

“Another Blue Dog leader, Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah), said he expected ‘a significant majority’ of members to support the amendment and sent a blunt warning to Blue Dogs who might oppose it.

“‘If any Blue Dog does not vote for it, I’d have to question how much they’re a Blue Dog,’ Matheson said.” (Russell Berman, “Blue Dogs break with Dems on balanced-budget amendment,” The Hill, 11/16/2011)

However, Mike Michaud defied his caucus by pledging ‘NO’ to the BBA, exposing their “moderate” policies as empty and proving how even they don’t know what they stand for anymore:

“A number of Blue Dogs have declared their support for the amendment, but Michaud isn’t persuaded.” (Jonathan Riskind, “Michaud opposes balanced-budget bill,” Portland Press Herald, 11/17/2011)
