Chairman Sessions: Democrat Votes Against Balanced Budget Show Party’s Dramatic Left Turn
“If the party of big government died with President Clinton, it was brought back to life by President Obama. There is no more striking example of the Democrat Party’s dramatic left turn since the 1990s than the dearth of Democrat support for a balanced budget. From Occupy Wall Street to federal spending sprees and government takeovers, the Democrat Party now embraces an extreme left agenda that has no room for balanced solutions. Unfortunately for Democrats, families and small business owners who must balance their budgets will remember this vote at the ballot box in 2012.”
NOTE:
• 35% of the Democrat Caucus voted for the 1995 BBA. Today, only 12% supported it.
• 59% of Independent voters support a Balanced Budget Amendment; 57% of all voters support a Balanced Budget Amendment (Resurgent Republic poll; 8/28-31).
• Since President Obama took office, the national debt has increase by over $4.3 Trillion – by 40%.
• NRCC launched CodeRedInk.com to hold Democrats accountable for their vote on the BBA.
