With Unemployment Still Unacceptably High, Time for Garamendi to End Failed Spending Spree and Start Removing Obstacles to Job Creation
California Democrat’s Failed Big-Government Agenda Stalls Economic Recovery

Washington — National unemployment for the month of November was announced today at the bleakly high rate of 8.6 percent thanks to John Garamendi’s consistent job-destroying agenda. This gloomy economic indicator highlights the continued allegiance John Garamendi has shown to his party’s destructive taxing, excessive spending and limitless borrowing that knocked the legs out from under the California economy.

“These numbers underscore the need for immediate action to address the jobs crisis in this country, but John Garamendi and his party are still doing everything they can to make it worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “After years of pursuing their big-government agenda at the expense of hardworking taxpayers, Garamendi and Democrats in Washington are intent on pursuing a regulation spree that is preventing job creators from hiring. It’s time for Garamendi to finally respond to the demands from California families and start removing obstacles that are thwarting job growth.”

The California middle class needs a leader now and it’s as if John Garamendi is purposefully playing ignorant as he watches them endure the stifling impact his failed policies have had on their lives.”

In November, the national unemployment rate lingered at a persistently high 8.6 percent. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Accessed 12/2/11)

Jobless claims rose above 400,000 for the month of November and while it was alleged to be “unexpected,” it cannot be overly surprising considering Democrats’ big-government priorities that are killing job creation:

“Claims for unemployment insurance unexpectedly rose last week, climbing past the psychologically important 400,000 mark as the jobs market showed signs of more weakness.

“Applications would need to stay below 375,000 consistently to push down the unemployment rate significantly. They haven’t been at that level since February.” (“Weekly Jobless Claims Jump Back Over 400,000 Mark,” Associated Press, 12/1/2011)

Californians can no longer wait for John Garamendi to realize that unjustified spending and tax hikes are not going to spark an environment for growth. With the national unemployment rate at 8.6 percent, will John Garamendi finally decide to recognize that his political agenda is not as important as the well-being of struggling California families?
