Remembering Leonard Boswell’s Failed Spending Policies

December 15, 2011

Good Afternoon-

On the eve of the stimulus anniversary, I thought you would be interested in taking a look back at Leonard Boswell’s rhetoric on the failed spending plan versus the economic reality.

Rhetoric

Leonard Boswell: “The cost of keeping the status quo far outweighs the cost of passing this bill, and I am hopeful we can get the stimulus package to President Obama’s desk as soon as possible.”

(Press Release, “Congressman Boswell Supports President’s Plan to Create Jobs and Boost the Economy,” Office of Congressman Leonard Boswell, Jan. 28, 2009)

Reality

Since the stimulus passed:

Iowa’s unemployment rate has increased from 5.3% to 6.3%.

15,112 jobs have been lost.

NRCC Comment: “Unfortunately Iowa’s working families have seen nothing but ballooning deficits and mountains of debt come from the spending plan Leonard Boswell voted for. Boswell failed to deliver the results once promised to middle-class families.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Andrea Bozek
