Chairman Sessions Statement on Tom Rooney’s Announcement

WASHINGTON – National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) released the following statement regarding the announcement of Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) that he will run in Florida’s newly created 17th Congressional District in 2012:

“Tom Rooney has established a strong track record of defending conservative values and putting Floridians first. Floridians know they can always count on Tom to fight for a more limited-government and work tirelessly to spur job creation in the private sector.

“I applaud Tom’s decision to continue his strong record of leadership by running in Florida’s 17th Congressional District. In addition to his military background, Tom’s experience and leadership on the House Agriculture committee will continue to be of great value to the hundreds of thousands of constituents he currently represents in this new district. We support Tom Rooney and look forward to working with him to ensure a Republican victory this year.”
