Utah Democrat’s Party Leaders Dismiss Voter Criticism of Their Disastrous Healthcare Law Even Though a Majority of Americans Supports Repeal
WASHINGTON — Despite the fact that a majority of voters support repealing the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare, Jim Matheson and his Washington Democrat colleagues still aren’t listening. In fact, Matheson’s Democrat leaders claim opposition to the big-government law is simply a position held by uninformed voters, and they intend to fully embrace it this election year.
“Jim Matheson and his Democrat leaders still aren’t willing to acknowledge the fact that working families and small businesses are living with the very real and troubling consequences of their government takeover of healthcare,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “With a majority of Americans favoring a repeal of their misguided law, the least Matheson and his Washington Democrat colleagues could do is listen.”
Fifty percent of voters nationwide disapprove of the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare, while only 42 percent approve. In swing states, the opposition is even higher:
Out of touch Democrats also strongly dismiss the large numbers of voters who wish to see their healthcare experiment repealed:
“‘I think there’s overwhelming sentiment to fix some parts of it,’ Hoyer acknowledged. ‘But I think there’s very, very strong support in the Democratic Party, and I believe that citizens are coming to that more and more as they see the benefits of that accruing to seniors in terms of their prescription-drug bill being reduced.'”
