Matheson is Responsible for ObamaCare’s Broken Promises
Utah Democrat Voted to Re-Affirm the Government Takeover of Healthcare Which Could Force Up to 20 Million Americans to Lose Their Current Healthcare Plans

WASHINGTON — When Jim Matheson’s Democrat leaders in Washington forced their government takeover of healthcare into law, they promised unequivocally that “if you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan.” Now new reports from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) show the law is bound to break that promise by forcing up to 20 million Americans off their current healthcare plans, and Matheson assumed responsibility for the law’s numerous consequences when he voted to keep it last year.

“Jim Matheson made his choice to keep the government takeover of healthcare, which has now thrown one of the most important promises Democrats made to American voters out the window,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Matheson’s constituents will remember his vote as they find it increasingly difficult to keep their healthcare plan while Election Day approaches.”

President Obama promised when Democrats passed the law that it would not force people off their current healthcare plans and become a government takeover of healthcare:

“If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.” (Mary Lu Carnevale, “Obama: ‘If You Like Your Doctor, You Can Keep Your Doctor,'” The Wall Street Journal‘s Washington Wire Blog, 6/15/09)

But the new CBO report suggests that promise is now broken, with up to 20 million Americans being forced out of their current plans in the next 10 years:

“As many as 20 million Americans could lose their employer-provided coverage because of President Obama’s healthcare reform law, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said in a new report Thursday.” (Julian Pecquet, “CBO: Health law could cause as many as 20M to lose coverage,” The Hill‘s Healthwatch Blog, 3/15/12)
