Garamendi-Obama Agenda Leaves Californians Jobless for Yet Another Painful Month
California Democrat’s Long-Time Allegiance to Job-Killing Policies Results in Long-Term Unemployment on a Massive Scale

WASHINGTON — California’s unemployment rate for March was released today at an agonizing 10.9 percent, but John Garamendi and his fellow Washington Democrats are still championing the destructive taxing and spending agenda that continues to plague the economy. While Garamendi plays politics in Washington, Californians are struggling to make ends meet as they remain jobless for yet another consecutive month.

“It’s difficult to watch John Garamendi neglect California’s struggling economy while doubling down on his party’s reckless taxing, spending, borrowing and regulating spree,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Why won’t Garamendi end his allegiance to the Democrats’ job-destroying policies that clearly aren’t working?”

Washington Democrats continue to make things worse during a stretch of long-term unemployment that, according to Ben Bernanke, even the recession of the early 1980s can’t rival in magnitude:

“Those long-term unemployed Americans have made up more than 40 percent of the unemployed since December, he noted. By contrast, in the severe 1981-82 recession, long-term unemployment never exceeded 25 percent.” (Martin Crutsinger, “Bernanke: Job market still weak, Fed should ‘remain cautious,'” Associated Press, 3/28/2012)
While Democrats ignore American workers desperate for work, Bernanke expresses serious concern about the damaging effects of long-term unemployment:

“Well, again– we have– 40% of the unemployed have been out of work for more than six months. Those people are obviously facing a lot of hardship– their skills could be eroding– they may never be able to get back into the labor force at the same earnings level or same occupation that they had when they—when they lost their jobs.” (“Transcript: Diane Sawyer Sits Down with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke,” ABC News, 3/27/2012)
