Brandon Shaffer co=sponsors bill to increase per-diem

June 22, 2012

Wanted to make sure you didn’t miss what happened in the Colorado Senate yesterday.

Democrat Brandon Shaffer (Senate President and congressional candidate in the 4th District) was the co-sponsor and champion of a bill to increase the per-diem for state lawmakers. But sensing that the pay raise might not going over well with voters, Shaffer suddenly ran for the hills when the bill came up for a vote.

As the Denver Post reported, Shaffer “co-sponsored the bill and voted for it in committee, but when legislation … came up for a vote on the Senate floor Wednesday, Senate President Brandon Shaffer walked away from it.”

“Shaffer is so busy putting his finger in the wind that he can’t even keep his story straight. Coloradans want a leader representing them in Congress, not another politician who does one thing when no one is looking and something else when they are.” – NRCC Spokesman Daniel Scarpinato
