John Oceguera’s campaign free-falls
I’m glad it’s Friday – you’re glad it’s Friday.
But John Oceguera must REALLY be glad it’s Friday.
The Nevada Democrat’s campaign has been in a free-fall since Monday – and every passing day seems to get worse.
Good thing he has that gigantic public pension to fall back-on.
Monday: Oceguera appeared on “Face to Face” with host Jon Ralston and dodged repeated attempts by the host to get him to say how he would have voted on ObamaCare.
“So we get talking points, not commitment to one of the most important pieces of legislation, whether you like it or not, that most Democrats voted for?,” Ralston said after Oceguera repeatedly dodged questions.
Tuesday:In an equally devastating interview on the program “The Agenda,” Oceguera got even more tangled in his own words.
Wednesday: Host Ralston weighs-in on the back-to-back interviews: “This is as sad as it is pathetic, watching a major political party surrender its principles to expediency, putting winning above standing for what it believed only a few short years ago and then wondering why the public won’t be eager to follow if its leaders win and miraculously rediscover their beliefs.”
In response, Oceguera sent out a rambling email titled “What I Stand For” – in which he said… well, nothing.
Thursday:Sun columnist J. Patrick Coolican compared the interviews to a bad karaoke performance and predicted that Oceguera will be finding employment as a lobbyist after the Nov. 6 election: “He stuck to rote talking points spat out of some dim robot at the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee. Worst of all, he couldn’t even deliver them properly. They were so derivative he sounded like a guy on a karaoke machine doing an impression of a guy on a karaoke machine singing a song by a Bon Jovi cover band.”
Today: And now this… With Obama in Nevada today, Oceguera’s own base is turning on him. A petition has started at change.org to “STOP Oceguera’s Dangerous DINO Run for Congress.”
“With Barack Obama visiting Nevada today, we will see if Oceguera hides from the President as blatantly as he’s hid from his support of the President’s policies this week. Oceguera’s campaign is in crisis mode because he’s finally realized that Nevadans aren’t interested in more of the failed policies he wants to rubber stamp in Congress.” – NRCC Spokesman Daniel Scarpinato
