Steven Horsford delinquent with disclosure form
The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that Democrat candidate Steven Horsford, known to play by his own rules, has been delinquent for months with his federal personal disclosure form.
“Congressional candidates are required to detail their personal finances for the U.S. House Ethics Committee within 30 days of raising more than $5,000 for their campaign,” the Sun reports. “Horsford reached that threshold in October last year but so far hasn’t filed the form.”
• What he didn’t do: Horsford was required to file his disclosure with the House Ethics Committee within 30 days of raising $5,000 in October of 2011. Months later, he still has not complied.
• What consequences does he face: According to the disclosure form, Horsford now faces a $200 penalty for violating the rules.
• What he needs to do to now: Horsford needs to go back, comply with the law like every other candidate, and file his 2010-2011 disclosure form, as he should have done last year.
Perhaps instead of traveling the country with Nancy Pelosi and Steve Israel to raise money for other Democrat candidates, Horsford should first get his own campaign in order:
“Filing a financial disclosure is the most basic ethics requirement required for a candidate for Congress, but apparently Horsford doesn’t think those standards of transparency apply to him. What is Horsford hiding? He may continue to see himself as entitled to live by his own set of rules, but voters have a right to know who’s paying his bills. – NRCC Spokesman Daniel Scarpinato
