David Cicilline RI-01 reasonable takeover opportunity for Republican

In case you missed it, Stu Rothenberg of the non-partisan and widely respected Rothenberg Political Report writes today that Rhode Island’s 1st District held by Rep. David Cicilline is a ‘very reasonable takeover opportunity’ for Republicans in November.

As Rothenberg notes in his column, Republicans have some “interesting opportunities in unusual places,” which includes this Rhode Island district.

“Another GOP opportunity in New England, against Cicilline, stems from the incumbent’s perceived vulnerability. A former mayor of Providence, Cicilline has been damaged by the city’s tenuous financial condition but even more by the charge that he painted a rosy picture of the city’s finances when it really was in trouble. He has received an abundance of negative media coverage, and his poll ratings have suffered consequently.” (Roll Call, 5/8/2012)
