Fighting Washington: Tax Day

June 25, 2012

Candidates,

Just wanted to remind you that tomorrow, April 17th is tax day – a great opportunity to push your anti-Washington, pro-growth message.

There is no better time to highlight how Americans are overtaxed because of Washington spending addiction. You may want to consider participating in a local tax day event and doing an earned media event. Democrats and the President want to continue to tax Americans more to fund their ever increasing addiction to spending. Make sure voters know that you want to cut spending and keep taxes low.

EARNED MEDIA IDEAS:

• Give out free coffee and/or shake hands at a local post office, talk to voters about their concerns over out-of-control spending. Invite local reporters to attend. Make sure to send out photos of the event through social networking.
• Book local radio and TV interviews to talk about how we need to cut spending in Washington.
• Submit an op-ed on how you would reform the tax code and highlight your opponent’s history of raising taxes.
• Host a small business roundtable to discuss how Washington’s tax hikes and burdensome regulations are hampering job creation.
• Hold a tele-town hall with voters to discuss their frustrations with Washington’s record high debt and spending sprees.
• Have volunteers pass out your palm card at local post offices with an anti-tax, anti-spending message.
• Send out a robo call about how your opponent wants to raise taxes and you want to reduce them. Add reporters, bloggers and decision-makers to the call list to get press coverage.
