Wouldn’t Tierney Know Something?

If your wife’s family was running a multi-million dollar illegal gambling empire for 15 years, wouldn’t you know something about it?

That’s the question many voters in Massachusetts will be asking as Rep. John Tierney’s brother-in-law is sentenced in federal court today.

But the questions will continue for the veteran Massachusetts Democrat not only about what he knew and when he knew it, but – more importantly – how could he not know this illegal activity was taking place right under his nose? And, if he really didn’t know, what else could be happening under his nose – in Congress and in his District – that he is clueless about? The NRCC today is launching a new website to highlight the growing ethical cloud surrounding Tierney. The website will pose questions voters and enterprising reporters should be asking Tierney.

Today’s question:

If Congressman Tierney didn’t know anything about his family’s gambling empire, and he had nothing to hide, why did his wife refuse to answer questions at his brother-in-law’s trial about what the Congressman knew and when?
