David Gill, Straight-Up Hypocrisy

David Gill has proved to be a lackluster candidate for the 4th consecutive time. But there is something different with this run for Congress. Oh yeah, now David Gill is taking PAC money. Yep the same David Gill that said he would never accept PAC money because he was running to represent constituents as an “independent voice.” But now it looks like the fledging campaign has decided to have a change of heart. The logic?

"We’re not taking corporate PAC money or Wall Street money, but PACs for unions or money from Democratic members of Congress or progressive organizations, the campaign is taking," said Michael Richards, Gill’s campaign manager. "We want to make sure that we’re clear that David is answering to his constituents. That is why he is not taking money from corporate PACs and Wall Street. But money from Democratic members, from unions supporting him and progressive organizations, he will take that." (Champaign News-Gazette, 7.17.12)

Okay, it all makes sense now. So David Gill is being an independent voice by taking PAC money from Dick Durbin and Pat Quinn because they both live in the district. Oh wait…

And also taking money from Democrat Members of Congress like Nancy Pelosi or uber-liberal progressive organizations funded by George Soros would make sense seeing they share the same ideology with voters in the 13th District… Right. Nice try but the families of Illinois are not buying it.

NRCC Statement: “David Gill is trying to have his cake and eat it too. His campaign is seriously struggling and he is trying to find any reasoning to renege on a campaign promise and take money from people like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Katie Prill
