Seven Republicans Enrolled In Program For Candidates in Open GOP-Leaning Seats

WASHINGTON — The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced today that seven Republican candidates have become Young Guns Vanguards. The Vanguard program provides a framework for the NRCC to assist candidates running in Republican-leaning open seats as they head into the fall. It kicks off a working relationship between the NRCC and Vanguard candidates, as well as their future colleagues in the House Republican Conference, in advance of the election.

“Young Guns Vanguard candidates will play an imperative role in our goal to keep Nancy Pelosi from reclaiming the Speaker’s gavel,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). “These candidates’ dedication and experience positions them to advocate for pro-growth policies and fight the failed Democrat status quo in Washington. This will stand in stark contrast to the Democrats’ record of spending, borrowing and taxing that American families know has failed.”

The Young Guns Vanguard is an extension of the NRCC’s Young Guns Program. Originally founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Paul Ryan (R-WI) as a member-driven organization, the Young Guns program has become an official NRCC effort dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide. Reps. Cantor, McCarthy and Ryan remain very involved in Young Guns, working together to recruit and prime conservative leaders for victory.

The NRCC’s Second Round Of Vanguard Candidates Are:

  • Ted Yoho (FL-03)
  • Ron DeSantis (FL-06)
  • Trey Radel (FL-19)
  • Doug Collins (GA-09)
  • Jim Bridenstine (OK-01)
  • Roger Williams (TX-25)
  • Steve Stockman (TX-36)
