Kirkpatrick Fact Check: Revisionist history
Talk about revisionist history.
Two years out of Congress and Ann Kirkpatrick is hoping to hit the reset button on her record. Unfortunately for her, Arizonans remember exactly why they fired her in 2010.
Let’s look at some of the false claims in her new ad:
Claim: “In Congress I cut my own pay and returned unspent office funds.”
Fact: Kirkpatrick actually spent over $105,000 on staff bonuses, and she even paid ex-political aides with taxpayer money after she lost in November 2010.
Claim: “I know we can pay down the debt . . .”
Fact: Kirkpatrick voted for the $1 trillion stimulus and in just her first two months as a member of Congress she voted to raise spending by $1.2 trillion.
Claim: “. . . while protecting Social Security and Medicare”
Fact: Kirkpatrick voted to raid Medicare by more than $700 billion to pay for ObamaCare and give 15 unelected bureaucrats the power to deny access to care.
“Ann Kirkpatrick can run out of her town halls, but she can’t run away from her record. Kirkpatrick wasted taxpayer dollars on her campaign staff, spent more than $1 trillion on failed programs and gutted Medicare and Social Security. That’s why Arizonans fired her.” – NRCC Spokesman Daniel Scarpinato
