#IWANTREPEAL: ObamaCare Tax Penalty To Hit 6 Million Middle Class Americans

September 19, 2012

Democrats Healthcare Takeover Forcing Families To Pay About $1,200 In Additional Taxes

President Obama Was Adamant That ObamaCare Is Not A Tax Increase:

“’No. That’s not true, George. The — for us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase…,’ [said President Obama].” (“Obama: Mandate Is Not A Tax,” ABC News, 9/20/09)

Yet the Non-Partisan Congressional Budget Office Estimated That Nearly 6 Million Middle Class Americans Will Have To Pay An Average Tax Penalty Of About $1,200 For Not Getting Health Insurance, Raising $6.9 Billion In Taxes When The Healthcare Takeover Is Fully In Effect In 2016:

“Nonetheless, in his first campaign for the White House, Obama pledged not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000.”

“And the budget office analysis found that nearly 80 percent of those who’ll face the penalty would be making up to or less than five times the federal poverty level. Currently that would work out to $55,850 or less for an individual and $115,250 or less for a family of four.
