NRCC “Corrupt Democrat” Campaign Features Connecticut’s Elizabeth Esty
Connecticut Candidate Puts Self Interest over Public Trust
Washington — Today, the National Republican Congressional Committee is exposing the latest corrupt Democrat, Elizabeth Esty, on its list of the 10 Most Corrupt Democrats. While Esty is running for Congress, her husband is in charge of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). During her campaign, Esty has taken more than a hundred thousand dollars from corporations and lobbyists who are either regulated by her husband’s agency, or may soon be. When asked about sources of her campaign cash, Esty claimed to have called these donors herself, proving she puts self interest over public trust.
“At a minimum, the appearance of potential impropriety with the sources of Elizabeth Esty’s campaign cash is deeply troubling,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “If this is how Elizabeth Esty treats positions of public trust, she cannot be trusted to represent Connecticut in Congress.”
