NRCC Announces Communications Team for 2014 Cycle

Group of Top-Notch Political Communications Operatives Tapped to Grow House Republican Majority

 WASHINGTON – National Republican Congressional Committee Communications Director Andrea Bozek announced the Committee’s communications team for the 2014 cycle today.

“These experienced and dedicated political communication professionals will play critical roles in the NRCC’s efforts to strengthen our majority in 2014,” said Bozek. “Each member brings a valuable set of communications and political skills to our team, and will ensure Nancy Pelosi is never Speaker of the House again.”

Andrea Bozek, Communications Director: Andrea got her start at NRCC during the 2006 cycle. She later worked as a Research Analysis and Regional Coordinator on John McCain’s presidential campaign, was Press Secretary for Congressman Tom Reynolds and served as Communications Director for Chris Lee’s campaign and official office. A Buffalo native, Andrea returned to the NRCC in 2011 as a Regional Press Secretary and rose to Deputy Communications Director in the 2012 cycle.

Daniel Scarpinato, National Press Secretary: A native Arizonan, Daniel Scarpinato started his career as a reporter for the Arizona Daily Star, covering the campaigns of notables including John McCain, Janet Napolitano and Gabrielle Giffords. He later served as editor of the politically influential Yellow Sheet Report. After making the leap to politics, Daniel worked on a number of congressional and local races. Before joining the NRCC in 2011 as Western Regional Press Secretary, Daniel was Director of Communications for the Republican Majority in the Arizona House of Representatives.

Nathaniel Sillin, Northeast Regional Press Secretary: Nathaniel will serve as Northeast Regional Press Secretary continuing his role from the 2012 cycle. In his capacity Nathaniel will continue to advise Members of Congress and candidates on communications strategy and tactics and serve as a spokesman for the committee. Prior to joining the NRCC in 2011, Nathaniel served as a communications director for two Members of Congress.  Nathaniel has also represented government and public affairs clients in the private sector and served on the 2005 Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission.

Katie Prill, Southeast/Midwest Regional Press Secretary: Katie isbeginning her second cycle as a Regional Press Secretary for the NRCC. Before her time at the committee, she served as Communications Director for West Virginia Congressman David McKinley. As a native Michigander, Katie got her start in politics working as Communications Director for a home state gubernatorial campaign and has since worked as Communications Director on senatorial and congressional races across the United States.

Ian Prior, Western/Great Plains Regional Press Secretary: Ian Prior is beginning his first cycle as a Regional Press Secretary for the NRCC. Before joining the NRCC, Ian was the Campaign Manager and Communications Director for Brendan Doherty for Congress in Rhode Island’s First District. Prior to taking the helm of Doherty’s campaign, Ian was an attorney for several large firms and worked as a trial lawyer for several years for the City of Boston Corporation Counsel’s Office.

Tyler Houlton, Policy Press Secretary: Tyler is joining the NRCC for a second cycle, after running Compass Colorado, a free-market advocacy organization in Colorado. Prior to this, Tyler worked as the Western Regional Spokesman for the NRCC, Communications Director for Colorado Congressmen Tom Tancredo and Mike Coffman, and Deputy Campaign Manager for Ryan Frazier’s 2010 congressional campaign.

Matt Gorman, Rapid Response Director: Matt is joining the NRCC as the Director of Rapid Response.  Before his time at the Committee, Matt previously worked as a Research Analyst at Mitt Romney for President, and then served as the Deputy Rapid Response Director for the campaign. A native of Torrington, Connecticut, Matt is a 2011 graduate of Stonehill College.

Danielle Varallo, Digital & Press Coordinator: Danielle is beginning her first cycle with the NRCC, after working on Mitt Romney’s 2012 Presidential Campaign as the Eastern Regional Field Manager within the campaign’s digital department. Prior to the Romney campaign, Danielle worked in the Congressional office of Congressman Charles F. Bass as Scheduler and Office Manager, and worked for Former Congressman Mike Castle during his 2010 Senate campaign in Delaware.

Annie Clark, Director of Radio and Television: Last election cycle, Annie served as the Media Assistant & Treasury Liaison for the NRCC’s IE team.  Annie graduated from Miami of Ohio with a degree in English Literature and was an undergraduate fellow in the University’s Humanities Center. Annie was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas and has previously interned for Congressman Kevin Yoder and for Chlopak Leonard Schechter & Associates.
