WASHINGTON – Today is the 33rd straight day of rising gas prices and House Democrats are nowhere to be found. Instead of offering serious solutions to relieve middle-class families of their pain at the pump, Pelosi and President Obama have been silent.
Under Obama and Pelosi’s leadership, gas prices have increased by 94 percent nationwide. Their silence on an issue that affects almost every West Virginia family shows just how out of touch they truly are.
“House Democrats are running on empty with middle-class families,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “For 33 straight days, gas prices have steadily risen and he has been silent. It’s time for Pelosi, President Obama, and Washington liberals to offer a serious solution to relieve consumers.”

Gas Prices Rose Tuesday For The Thirty-Third Straight Day. “U.S. consumers facing the highest gasoline pump prices ever for February may see further increases as global crude oil futures climb and breakdowns and seasonal maintenance at refineries reduce fuel supplies. Gasoline futures have surged 11 percent this year, making the fuel the top performing commodity in the Standard & Poor’s GSCI index. Prices at the pump are up 14 percent this year and have risen 33 straight days, according to AAA data.” (Barbara Powell, “Gasoline Pump Prices Soaring On Refinery Repairs, Oil Rally,” Bloomberg, 2/19/13)
