Ed Markey Compares Campaign Finance Law To Slavery

After spending 30 years in Washington, Congressman Ed Markey is back in Massachusetts and the campaign rust is starting to show.

One example from this week is particularly galling, while in Pittsfield Markey compared campaign finance law to slavery. See for yourself:

Comparing election law to slavery is outrageous and offensive on its own right, but what makes his comments even more offensive is that Markey has taken millions in PAC money in his own career (courtesy of OpenSecrets).

It’s time for Markey to apologize. His fellow members of the Massachusetts delegation such as John Tierney and Bill Keating also need to condemn his remarks. If they remain silent, they are in tacit agreement with his offensive and hypocritical statement.
