House Dems Walk Off The Job When They Don’t Get Their Way
Democrats on the House Education and Workforce Committee walked off the job this afternoon. The Democrats, which include Massachusetts’ John Tierney, because they didn’t get their way.
This is typical for Washington. Democrats running off like petulant school kids.
In fact, California’s George Miller didn’t even attend the hearing at all. He skipped town, heading back to the Golden State yesterday.
Democrats are worried this bill–titled the SKILLS Act–is too popular and are calling the bill a “public relations effort.” That’s right, House Dems would rather walk out of their jobs than help working men and women get better access to job training.
Chairman John Kline had this to say on Democrats failing to do their jobs:
“Today Democrats abdicated their responsibility and demonstrated their unwillingness to engage in the legislative process,” he said. “Last year the committee debated and approved numerous amendments offered by the minority which helped improve the bill. We stood ready to do the same today. Rather than present their ideas, Democrats offered a rote defense of the status quo and political theatrics. Both are a disservice workers, employers, and job seekers.”
