NRCC Demands John Tierney Return a Day’s Pay for Walking out on his Constituents
After John Tierney decided to walk out of yesterday’s Education and Workforce Committee Hearing, the National Republican Congressional Committee is demanding that Tierney return his pay and offer an explanation to his constituents for his childish and unacceptable actions. Tierney’s actions are especially reprehensible in light of the fact that other federal workers may see reductions in pay, despite showing up for work every day. Meanwhile, Tierney makes $1,380 for each day that Congress is in session.
“John Tierney’s actions at yesterday’s committee hearing were embarrassing, childish and disrespectful to every worker that doesn’t have the luxury of walking out of work and still collecting a paycheck,” said NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior. “With so many people in Massachusetts struggling to make ends meet, Tierney should be held accountable for his out-of-touch tantrum and refund the taxpayers for skipping out on his constituents.”
