As Economy Stagnates, Obama Claims To “Pivot” To Jobs Yet Again

May 6, 2013

It was announced over the weekend that President Obama is ready to do a little traveling this spring to sell his economic agenda of higher taxes, more wasteful spending, and fewer jobs.

From the Associated Press:

“The trips come as Obama, less than four months into his second term, is facing increasing skepticism from political allies and foes alike that he still has the clout to get big things done before the 2014 midterm elections creep up and his ability to set the agenda diminishes.”

Yet again, he’s ready to “pivot” to jobs, in a ritual that this White House seems to begin every few months. The last time was just a few months ago, when President Obama promised this “pivot” would be at the heart of the State of the Union.

sound familiar

That was three months ago and, since then, the White House has barely lifted a finger to help deal with the millions of Americans who are still out-of-work or underemployed. As we explored earlier today, the economy is still stagnating. Even more troubling, large segments of the population are being left behind:

  • 41 million Americans living in poverty
  • 46 million on food stamps – a near-doubling since Obama took office
  • 9 percent unemployment rate for Hispanics
  • 16.1 percent effective unemployment rate for youth

Across this country, American families are wondering if the American dream is a thing of the past. They deserve more than lip service.

Instead of working on these problems, Obama simply spends a few weeks giving speeches and talking a big game before becoming distracting by his liberal policy wish list.

Enough is enough. President Obama can try and this charade again, but the American people know better. Like the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…
