WH Climate Adviser: “A War On Coal Is Exactly What’s Needed.”

June 25, 2013

The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper found a gem in this morning’s preview of President Obama’s speech on new climate change regulations.

In it, Daniel P. Schrag, an Obama adviser on climate change, talks about the need to regulate coal-powered plants and says, “a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.”

Here’s the full quote:

“Everybody is waiting for action,” he said. “The one thing the president really needs to do now is to begin the process of shutting down the conventional coal plants. Politically, the White House is hesitant to say they’re having a war on coal. On the other hand, a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.”

President Obama’s hostility toward coal and coal-powered plants is well-documented. At least, a White House adviser is admitting what the rest of the country already knows: President Obama has been waging a war on coal since he ran for president back in 2008.

Remember this?

In fact, the Energy Information Administration expects 175 coal-fired generators to retire in the next three years.

It’s time we stand up for American energy and American jobs. Tell President Obama to stop his war on coal.
