White House Knew For Months That ObamaCare Implementation Was A “Train Wreck”

“It’s the joyous, simultaneous, nonlinear equation from hell”

The last several months have brought story, after story, after story detailing just how disastrous the ObamaCare implementation has been. In fact, it’s gotten so bad that even Democrats have been sounding the alarm on just how bad this will be.

All the while Democrats like Nancy Pelosi have been neglecting reality to the point of being downright Polyannish.

Turns out the White House saw this “train wreck” coming down the track for months.

National Journal is out today with a report detailing how the White House recognizes—and has known for awhile—that ObamaCare’s implementation was going horribly.

“As far back as March, a top IT official at the Department of Health and Human Services said the department’s current ambition for the law’s new online insurance marketplaces was that they not be “a Third-World experience.” Several provisions had already been abandoned in an effort to simplify the administration’s task and maximize the chances that the new systems would be ready to go live in October, when customers are supposed to start signing up for insurance.”

With the government dealing publicly with ObamaCare’s complexity, the public is also now given a real glimpse into the breadth of bureaucracy involved with the new law.

“In an ideal world, the exchange websites need to be able to talk to several federal agencies—IRS to verify an applicant’s income and employment status, the Department of Homeland Security to determine her citizenship, and the state government to see if she qualifies for Medicaid, to name a few—all in real time, so a person could fill out a form and purchase insurance in one sitting.

‘Each of those departments has its own computer system and its own means of tracking information. Creating a ‘data hub’ to share them has been a challenge, as a recent Government Accountability Office report highlighted. It is increasingly clear that the kind of Amazon.com, one-stop shopping that was once described – and that Obama himself referenced in a speech on Monday — will not be available in most parts of the country.”

As one IT consultant called it, “It’s the joyous, simultaneous, nonlinear equation from hell.”

While this acknowledgment of reality is actually quite refreshing from a White House often in denial, it doesn’t make a bit of difference to the families who are seeing higher premiums, workers who are losing coverage, or the women who are finding bureaucratic boards placed between them and their doctor.

The only real answer is repeal. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again.

A government takeover of healthcare held together with duct tape and bubble gum is a still a government takeover of healthcare and it must be stopped.
