Collin Peterson Has Turned His Back On Minnesota’s Farmers
New NRCC Ad Highlights Peterson’s Support for Increased Regulations
WASHINGTON – The National Republican Congressional Committee released a new broadcast television ad in Minnesota today targeting Collin Peterson (MN-07) and his loyalty to Washington insiders. Peterson, who voted for Cap & Trade, clearly has placed his political interests ahead of Minnesota’s family farmers. Under Cap & Trade, nationwide income for farmers would be expected to decrease by over $20 billion dollars over the next 23 years.
After 22 years in Washington, it’s time for Peterson to step down from his more than two-decade tenure as a self-serving Congressman.
“Collin Peterson has been in Washington for far too long – his support for increased regulations has devastated Minnesota farmers,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Alleigh Marré. “Washington is broken and we have career politicians like Collin Peterson to thank for it.”

Between 2010 and 2035, the decrease in income for farmers would be expected to reach $23 billion dollars, which would be a 57% decrease from what would have been previously reported. (“For Farmers, Cap and Trade is a Permanent Drought Season.” By Nicholas Loris, The Foundry Blog. 6/9/2009)
Cap & Trade would be expected to increase costs on American families by over $200 billion a year. (“Don’t Cap Our Future,” by Bob Stallman. The American Farm Bureau Federation, 11/2009)
