What is Sean Eldridge afraid of?

It’s the worst kept secret in the Hudson Valley – multimillion dollar district shopper Sean Eldridge is running for Congress. Despite his efforts to be coy about his future intentions, everyone knows he has his eyes set on Washington D.C.

Yet, Eldridge consistently refuses to talk to the media about his grand ambitions or any of the important issues he would face should he be successful in buying a Congressional seat.

Case in point? YNN is running a series highlighting Congressional races in New York. While most candidates have taken part in this series, Sean Eldridge “declined to do an on-camera interview with [YNN].” Check out the piece here (minus Eldridge), and watch Congressman Chris Gibson address the important issues he is dealing with in Congress on behalf of the 19th District of New York.

Of course, this is not the first time Eldridge has refused to make his positions known. He blew off the Albany Times Union in early July (“Eldridge declined to be interviewed”). He wouldn’t talk to Politics on the Hudson in mid-July (“Eldridge was not available Monday to talk about the potential congressional race”). And when reporters try to get responses from Eldridge’s consultants, they do not respond.

Then again, maybe Eldridge doesn’t want to scare off his potential donors by having to explain his 2012 class warfare rhetoric, his support for a tax increase on New York small businesses, and his glowing endorsement of Obamacare.

NRCC Comment: “Sean Eldridge is running for U.S. Congress, but he is running away from the tough questions about his campaign and where he stands on important issues. If this secretive campaign style is a preview of what kind of Congressman Sean Eldridge would be, he should stick to what he does best – running shadowy Super PACs and attending swanky parties with Nancy Pelosi.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
