Not a Joke: Minnesota Democrat Collin Peterson Calls For 17% Gas Tax Increase
After being shamed into coming on the show, Collin Peterson joined Chris Berg on KXJB last night. During his appearance, Peterson doubled down on his support of a higher gas tax and went so far as to say he didn’t even think his constituents would notice. Peterson is advocating for a 17% increase in the gas tax (which is currently 28.6 cents):
“If you have a nickel increase in the gas tax – you know these gas prices go 20 cents one way or the other day-to-day. I’m not sure it would even register.”

“Maybe paying 17 percent more for every gallon of gas isn’t a big deal for a Washington insider like Collin Peterson who has gotten comfortable with his cushy DC lifestyle. But this 17 percent tax increase would be a crushing blow for everyday Minnesotans already struggling to make ends meet in this Obama-economy. A massive tax hike on gas will make it harder for middle-class folks to get to work, run errands, and just live their lives. During his two decades in Congress, Collin Peterson has lost touch with the people of Minnesota.” – Alleigh Marré, NRCC Spokeswoman
