Obama’s Former Campaign Apparatus Silent On Syria

September 5, 2013

President Obama and his entire administration has been “flooding the zone” this week, looking to build support for a military intervention in Syria.

Yet one prolific Democrat voice is still silent: Organizing for Action.

According to The Washington Examiner’s Rebecca Berg, the president’s former campaign apparatus has not yet weighed in on a possible military strike—despite being specifically dedicated to supporting President Obama’s agenda.

“Despite the high stakes, however, the president has not activated one of his most powerful tools of political persuasion to help him win approval for the strike: Organizing for Action.

“The political group, which inherited a well-oiled infrastructure and network from Obama’s re-election campaign, has at its disposal roughly 2 million volunteers, 17 million email subscribers and more than 36 million Twitter followers.

“The group has proved its effectiveness by boosting public support for other Obama priorities, and presumably it could do the same for military action in Syria, something the public generally opposes and some lawmakers are reluctant to support.”

According to Berg, despite the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s vote yesterday, OFA’s twitter account has remained silent on the issue. However, the organization was not shy about weighing in on President Obama’s other legislative priorities including ObamaCare implementation and immigration reform.
