4 House Democrats Who Repeated President Obama’s “Lie Of The Year”

December 12, 2013

In case you missed it, PolitiFact just awarded its “Lie of the Year” to President Obama’s claim that “if you liked your healthcare plan, you can keep it.”

While President Obama spread this lie on a regular basis for years—even when the White House knew it was false—he certainly wasn’t the only one.

Several members of Congress made the very same claims too.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane…

West Virginia’s Nick Rahall: “Those who like what [the insurance] they have today, which they’ll be able to keep…”

Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema: “President Obama has said time and time again that for people like myself, who have health care plans that we enjoy — if you like what you have, you can keep it.”

New York’s Tim Bishop: “A central feature of reform will be preserving the freedom to choose what works best for you and your family—if you like your doctor, keep your doctor. If you like your current plan, keep your current plan.”

Oregon’s Kurt Schrader: “If you are insured and happy with your coverage, nothing changes.”

NRCC COMMENT: “While President Obama may have run his last election, Democrats who repeated his “Lie of the Year” will run again next November. Voters will be relieved to know that if they don’t like their member of Congress, they don’t have to keep them.” – Matt Gorman, NRCC Spokesman

PS – Just today, we released an interactive timeline showing that the White House knew this was a lie and continued to say it. You can check it out here.
