NRCC Chairman Greg Walden’s Statement on Rep. Tom Latham’s Retirement Announcement

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement after Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) announced that he will not be running for re-election in 2014:

“Let me be one of the first to applaud Tom on a remarkable and successful career in Congress. For nearly two decades, Tom has been a strong and reliable advocate for Iowans. Whether it’s work on behalf of farmers or his passion for fighting government waste, Tom has been a dedicated public servant whose hard work has resulted in Iowans returning him to Congress after hard-fought campaigns. I wish Tom and his family the best as they start a new chapter and thank him for his service.

“Iowans have been well served by having one of the hardest working members as their representative in Congress. I am confident that they will elect a Republican to represent this district next November.”
