#SOTU Factcheck: Under President Obama’s Administration, The Middle Class Has Suffered Like Never Before

January 28, 2014

Tonight, President Obama is vowing to take on the growing problem of income equality and opportunity for all.

This isn’t the first time he’s vowed to take it on though. Over and over again, he’s said that this will be the year in which in focuses on growing the middle class.

What he’s forgetting, however, is that under his administration, the middle class has suffered like never before.

During President Obama’s tenure, median household income has decreased by almost $4,000 while the number of Americans living in poverty has increased by 6.7 million.

After 5 years of broken promises, President Obama is out of ideas. He simply doesn’t know how to get this economy turned around. Most troubling, he can’t even recognize that his policies are causing the continued economic stagnation.

More and more, we see Americans holding Washington Democrats accountable for their failures. A recent Bloomberg poll showed 58 percent of Americans disapproved of President Obama’s stewardship of the economy.

President Obama’s handling of the economy is also influencing how Americans view his administration as a whole. Another poll showed 53 percent of Americans believe Obama is “not competent” in running the government.

This November, we have an opportunity to grow our Republican majority in the House. President Obama and Nancy Pelosi would love nothing more than return to the days of complete Democrat control of Washington.

We’ve seen that movie before and it ain’t a good one.

Stimulus. ObamaCare. Trillions more in debt.

America can’t afford a Democrat House majority.
