#SOTU Factcheck: President Obama’s Empty Promises On Accountability

January 28, 2014

Four years ago, President Obama used his first State of the Union to stress the need for accountability in Washington.

Tonight, he is trying the same empty rhetoric.

President Obama likes to pretend he’s bringing accountability to Washington, but his time in office has been marked with a lack of transparency and responsibility.

The best example lies here—it’s the complete list of things President Obama didn’t know:

USA Today:  NSA Denies Obama Knew Of Spying On German Leader

CNN: HHS Chief: President Didn’t Know Of Obamacare Website WoesBeforehand

Politico: Senior W.H. Staff Knew Of IRS Investigation, Did Not Tell Obama

Weekly Standard: Obama Claims He Didn’t Know About the Petraeus Investigation

Business Insider: The White House Says It Had No Idea The DOJ Seized The AP’s Phone Records

Real Clear Politics: Carney: Obama Didn’t Know About Fast & Furious Until He Saw It In Media

Americans expect a president to lead—not feign ignorance or blame it on someone else. President Obama’s repeated bungling of matters ranging from the IRS scandal, Benghazi, and the ObamaCare website has caused Americans to lose faith in his competence.

So tonight, he’s in the House chamber, yet again talking about accountability. But we know better.

With President Obama, the buck stops, um, over there.
