ObamaCare is Forcing Families To Put Kids on Medicaid

February 10, 2014

Middle class families across the United States with policies expiring are being told to put their children on Medicaid. Many of these families had adequate health insurance, but can no longer afford to pay for individual plans under ObamaCare.

One mother of six told WOAI-TX she was astounded to learn that under President Obama’s health care law her children were applicable for CHIP, a Medicaid-like program for children.

“I don’t want to feel like I’m the lowest class citizen in this country,” Rachel Benjamin told the news station. “I mean, like, who is on Medicaid?”

Benjamin paid almost $1,800 per month for her family’s plan, until she was told it no longer met ObamaCare’s regulations. Now, with new requirements in place, the Benjamins could face costs up to $16,000 for separate health care policies, something they just can’t afford.

Because Medicaid-like programs offer less availability in coverage and are accepted by fewer doctors, Benjamin has reason to worry for her children’s health. “Now I’m just going to hope and pray that they’re [the kids] not going to need to go to the doctor,” she says.

The negative side effects of ObamaCare are growing harder and harder for Democrats to ignore. Children of hard-working parents shouldn’t be at the mercy of shoddy health care policies under Medicaid programs.  Now is the time for Democrats to stand up for these families and demand recourse.

From Washington Free Beacon:

Families across the U.S. are learning that President Obama’s signature piece of legislation- the Affordable Care Act, is anything but affordable.

Rachel Benjamin, mother of six, was shocked when she was told that five of her six children needed to be placed on CHIP, Medicaid for kids.
