Nick Casey Jr. uses $24K in campaign cash to enrich himself

Donors to the Nick Casey for Congress campaign can’t be too happy that Casey is dumping huge sums of campaign money into his law firm. Specifically, on April 16, 2014 Casey transferred $24,472.94 to Lewis, Glasser, Casey, & Rollins PLLC – a law firm in which he is a named partner.

The reason for the payments? “Rent and strategic consulting.” So I guess Casey is paying himself to consult . . . well, himself.

Considering that lawyers from Casey’s firm have donated $7,600 to his campaign, getting $24K back in “rent and strategic consulting” fees seems like a pretty good deal for Casey and his partners. No so much for his donors who probably don’t love the idea of donating their hard earned money to a law firm.

NRCC Comment: “Nick Casey isn’t just a political opportunist who hitched his star to Barack Obama in 2008, he’s also someone that never passes up a chance to make a buck. That’s why he is paying inordinate sums of money to himself to be a ‘strategic consultant’ on his own campaign. If Casey Jr. is so willing to enrich himself and his law partners with his donors’ money, imagine what he would do with taxpayer money if elected to Congress.” – NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
