Democrats in Disarray – Nancy Pelosi vs. Steve Israel
Last week we highlighted the disconnect between Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel and his staff at the DCCC. Israel condemned the DCCC for calling Iraq War veteran Lee Zeldin a “coward,” but the DCCC brushed off Israel’s condemnation and refused to apologize.
Now it looks like Israel and Nancy Pelosi have a bit of a disconnect as well.
Nancy Pelosi, on the other hand, looked into that crystal ball and predicted that Democrats will “win big” and pick up seats in New York. Not only is that statement completely ridiculous, but it contradicts Israel’s “manage expectations” message from yesterday.
Does Pelosi not realize that Democrats are defending at least five seats in NY, including two open seats (NY-04, NY-21) and three other vulnerable Democrats in Tim “Fireworks” Bishop, Sean Patrick Maloney, and Dan Maffei?
Meanwhile, based on its own list, the DCCC is targeting only three seats in NY. Those numbers just don’t add up to a good year for Democrats in New York, especially in a mid-term election where the President and Obamacare are dragging down Democrats everywhere.
NRCC Comment: “Washington Democrats can’t seem to get on the same page about anything. First the DCCC ignores Steve Israel’s condemnation of its attack on an Iraq War veteran, then Nancy Pelosi starts issuing delusional predictions that day after Israel claimed that Democrats wouldn’t make such predictions. If this is the kind of execution we can come to expect from Democrats over the next five months, then they can expect to be pushed even further into their minority come November.”– NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
