Brad Ashford’s staff is heading for the hills
Only two months into his first term, Brad Ashford’s top staffers are heading for the hills. According to Roll Call, three senior staffers have departed out of frustration since Ashford took office in January, raising red flags for fellow Democrats.
“He’s going to have one of the toughest races in the country, if not the toughest race in the country. And so his focus will need to be on his mechanics and on representing his district effectively. He’s going to have to do both, not one or the other,” said former DCCC Chairman Steve Israel.
Ashford only rubbed salt in national Democrats’ wounds, saying that fundraising is a “secondary, almost tertiary” concern for him.
One Democratic operative ominously said that Ashford’s antics sound “like the type of activity that occurs in a one-term member of Congress’ office, not someone who is going to be re-elected.”
We couldn’t agree more.
