Ami Bera is living the high life

May 1, 2015

Business class airfare. 5 star hotel stays. Overnighting at a castle-turned-ski resort.

This was the lifestyle of Ami Bera on a recent trip to Germany, courtesy of special interest groups. And all of this after Bera voted to give himself taxpayer funded healthcare for life and opposed reforming congressional perks, such as taxpayer funded first class air travel.

Ironically, national Democrats ran multiple television ads last fall attacking Bera’s opponent for official travel during his congressional career. Since Bera is clearly living the high life in Washington and around the world, will Democrats now turn their fire against one of their own?

Here are a couple reviews of Bera’s accommodations from his trip:

London’s Daily Mail last year noted, “Schloss Elmau, a castle that is two years shy of celebrating its 100th birthday, is located outside the winter ski resort of Garmisch on the edge of a vast national park. The scenery is simply stunning. The view from our bedroom window was so beautiful as to seem unreal.”

The Berlin Regent Hotel brags, “Considered by Condé Nast Traveler to be one of the ‘best places to stay in the world’, the Regent Berlin is one of the best 5 star superior hotels in Berlin that prides itself on impeccable service and first-class amenities in the heart of one of Europe’s most compelling cities.”

NRCC Comment: “Ami Bera is living the high life in Washington while voting himself taxpayer funded healthcare for life and opposing reforming congressional perks. 7th District families deserve someone who will work for them in Washington, not hypocritically jet-set around the globe on a luxury vacation funded by special interests.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
