White House names San Diego as potential GITMO transfer site. You can thank Scott Peters.
Yesterday, a White House official named San Diego as a potential transfer site for GITMO detainees, taking an huge step towards realizing Scott Peters’ dream of allowing terrorists to be transferred to American soil. Peters has voted time and again to allow the closure of GITMO, all but erecting a “vacancy” sign outside the Miramar brig that is now under consideration.
In fact, San Diego was not in consideration until recently. However, local opposition at previously discussed transfer sites was so strong that the White House had to expand their list of possible locations. With a local Representative who has been a cheerleader for closing GITMO and transferring terrorists to American soil, it’s no surprise that the White House now views San Diego as a politically convenient location to dump the least wanted prisoners in American custody.
